Mitchell or Gray? Voss and Alexander split on Souths' next move

SEN’s Greg Alexander and Andrew Voss are split over whether the South Sydney Rabbitohs should leave Latrell Mitchell in the centres for their clash against the Parramatta Eels in Round 24.
Mitchell was a late inclusion into the Rabbitohs’ side in his return from injury as Souths got their first win since Round 10. Mitchell starred with two try assists, one line break, one line break assist and 155 running metres in the 20-18 win over the Gold Coast Titans.
Equally as impressive was Jye Gray at fullback. Voss believes the Rabbitohs look a far better side with Gray as fullback but Alexander feels Mitchell should return in the number one jersey.
“Would you be happy to see Latrell Mitchell in the centres for the rest of this season and next year?” Alexander asked on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
Voss replied: “I said it at the start of the year.
“Remember at the start of the year when Latrell wasn’t there, Souths were winning games.
“I just think Jye Gray, in that particular side, is the energiser bunny.
“I think he is a first grader and his only position is fullback.”
Alexander added: “I’m not confident in Jye Gray.
“I don’t think he’s the man. Where would he fall in the pecking order of fullbacks?”
Voss continued: “In this South Sydney side with his 20 carries, his courage and inspiration, I just think he fits.
“They are a better side with him in and I don’t have another position for him.
“I can put him at fullback and leave Latrell Mitchell at centre.”
Alexander: “I think after playing less than half of games over the last three years, it is worth a roll of the dice to leave Latrell in the centres for the year.
“He can still have an impact on the game. He only needs 10 touches and he can come up with a couple of try assists, a line break and a big play.
“He can do that in the centres. It’s worth having him play a bigger part of the season.
“Again, I’m not confident in Jye Gray (as a starting fullback).”
The Rabbitohs host the Eels at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.
