Mid-season review: Why the Bombers have actually been impressive
Kane Cornes and David King have analysed every club’s start to 2025 as the competition enters the middle part of the season.
Critiqued on SEN’s Fireball, the duo put every club under the microscope and determined whether supporters should be satisfied or if there are areas for concern
With Essendon heading into the bye in 13th spot, Cornes and King looked at how the Bombers have performed in their first 15 games.
Brad Scott’s side are currently 6-8 and look set for a difficult second half of the season after a season filled with injuries.
Essendon
Many were unsure about where the Bombers were at, heading into Brad Scott’s third season at the helm after an underwhelming second half of last season.

The club was pleading for stability during the off-season and rewarded Scott with a one year extension in March despite having two years left to run on his contract.
The Bombers picked up good wins against Melbourne, Sydney and Port Adelaide however they were disappointing in their losses to Adelaide, the Western Bulldogs and Geelong.
Despite the difficult start to 2025, Cornes felt that Bombers fans should still be positive about what the future looks like at Tullamarine.
“You feel like it's going to be a pretty difficult run home for the Bombers,” Cornes said.
“I still think if you want to find the positives you can for the Essendon football club.
“It turns quickly and it turns quickly when you get your senior players back and you get healthy and you build on what they have got.
“They’ve also got heaps of room in their cap, they’ve got a great draft hand this year.
“The overriding point is that the next three to five years will be pretty exciting I think if you are an Essendon fan.
“They were as impressive as most teams this year, they were on the cusp of the eight if not in the eight before this injury crisis hit.
"That's a pretty good effort."
