Kangaroos star turns back on free agency to sign $9m deal
Luke Davies-Uniacke has signed a new deal with North Melbourne.
The star midfielder has committed to the Kangaroos until 2032, turning his back on free agency to stay put at Arden Street.
The club has confirmed the signing through head of football talent Brady Rawlings.
“Luke is a very important and much-loved member of our playing group, so to have him sign on for seven more years is brilliant news for us and our supporters,” Rawlings said.
“His long-term commitment despite significant interest from other clubs is also a fantastic show of confidence in our program and the future of the club.
“At 25, Luke has plenty of great football still ahead of him, and we look forward to watching him deliver it here at North Melbourne.”
Channel 9 journalist and SEN regular Tom Morris had moments earlier posted that Davies-Uniacke had put pen to a seven-year deal with the Roos.
Furthermore, AFL Media’s Cal Twomey says the deal is worth $1.3 million a season, or in excess of $9m, to the 25-year-old who won last year’s North best and fairest.
