"Greatest ever": Davey's Demons plea to Pickett

Melbourne legend Aaron Davey has pled his case to Kysaiah Pickett, determined to convince the potential wantaway star remains a Demon for life.
Although contracted with Melbourne until 2027, rumours have circulated throughout the season that Pickett may seek a move back to his home state of Western Australia, with the 24-year-old openly expressing his struggles with homesickness earlier in the season.
Davey, who spent 10 seasons with the Dees, playing 178 games and booting 174 goals for the club, believes that Pickett has the opportunity to become a historical Melbourne great.
“We’re going to have to try to work something out,” Davey told SEN Whateley ahead of Big Freeze 11.
“It’s always a hard one. If there is any advice I could give him, he has the ability now to become Melbourne’s greatest Indigenous player ever.
“He has made that number his own. I think a lot of people forget Aaron Davey used to wear 36!
“That’s what happens in that opportunity. I was in a similar position in 2009; funny enough Fremantle are the ones that offered me my biggest contract.
“The best thing I love about it was my loyalty, but then again, that’s me. I’m big on loyalty and wanting to be a one-team player.
“That’s the most special thing about it now. I’ve got kids, and I can always say that I honoured my values.
“If we get an opportunity, if you give me a couple of beers after the game if we win today, I’ll be making sure.
“Kozzy! You better listen to Flash here brother!”
Flash Davey, alongside nine other Australian icons, is set to head down the slide as part of today’s King’s Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood.
The Big Freeze sliders will take to the ice at 2pm today, with the two sides taking to the field at 3:20pm AEST.
