Geelong legend's top five AFL players in 2025
Geelong champion Cameron Mooney has put together his top five AFL players based on the 2025 season so far.
Mooney has collated his top performing players across the year to date, factoring in their availability and consistency through 14 rounds of football.
“I’m going to do my list, but it’s going to be the best players that are playing right now,” Mooney told SEN’s The Warm Up.
“It doesn’t mean they are the best player in the competition, but right now, they are my top five.
“I think Marcus Bontempelli is a top-three player, but he hasn’t had that year, so he is not on the list.”

5 – Jeremy Cameron (Geelong)
“Fifth best player this year in the competition right now as we sit.”
4 – Jordan Dawson (Adelaide)
“Having an outstanding season.”
3 – Nick Daicos (Collingwood)
“You might think he’s a little bit high, but I think he’s about right here.”
2 – Bailey Smith (Geelong)
“What an outstanding year he’s had.”
1 – Ed Richards (Western Bulldogs)
“What he has performed this year to date, and the stats will say he is the number one player in the game.
“He’s been absolutely incredible.”
Mooney also listed a range of honourable mentions, while naming the player he believes will top the list in the near future.
“I could have put in Hugh McCluggage, I could have put in (Noah) Anderson, (Sam) Taylor, (Nasiah) Wanganeen-Milera, (Max) Holmes, there are so many guys I could have put in this list,” Mooney continued.
“Like I said, Bontempelli hasn’t played enough games, (Sam) Darcy hasn’t played enough games but I think Darcy will be the best player soon.”
