Josh Jenkins has named his All-Australian locks and smokeys for the upcoming AFL season.
Starting with the locks, the former Adelaide star believes Brisbane captain Harris Andrews was snubbed from last year’s team and will feature this time around – alongside another key Lion.
“Two Lions – Harris Andrews, I don’t think he was given enough credit by people in the business. He singlehandedly kept Brisbane afloat early last year,” Jenkins told SEN’s The Run Home.
“In the first half of the year, even in their losses, instead of being eight-goal losses they were four-goal losses because of the form he was in.
“The other one is Hugh McCluggage. He’s been robbed once. I think he’ll slide in there this year. I love his game.”
Jenkins’ more outlandish All-Australian picks include Geelong midfielder Max Holmes, who simply needs to find more of the footy to take his game to another level.
“If you want to go bold, I watched him the other day, if this man can average 26 disposals, Max Holmes will be a lock for All-Australian. 26 is the number. His 26 disposals are very, very dangerous,” Jenkins said.
“My smokey for All-Australian, he’s a smokey because he’ll be a devastating midfielder, but they can pick him in the forward pocket or the flank and that’s Izak Rankine.
“He’s got to stay healthy. Those hamstrings have got to hold up.”
