“For goodness sake”: Why Carlton star is in the gun
Kane Cornes has called on Charlie Curnow to hit the scoreboard against GWS and prove why he is one of the best key forwards in the game.
The two-time Coleman medallist has been slightly down on his incredibly high standards to start 2025, kicking 21 goals from his nine games.
The sharpshooter missed the end of 2024 with a troublesome ankle injury and had a minor setback in the pre-season after a procedure on his knee in February.
Cornes put Curnow in the gun because the Blues star has only kicked more than three goals once in 2025, while other forwards in the league have delivered bags more frequently.

“I see Jeremy Cameron kick 13 in two weeks, and I think it’s been a while since Charlie Curnow has kicked a bag,” Cornes said on SEN's Fireball.
“I understand it is (Jack) Buckley and (Sam) Taylor (this week) but kick me a bag for goodness sake.
“He kicked four in Round 7, that was against North who have their troubles with key defensive problems.
“He then kicked five against, guess who, North Melbourne in Round 20 last year and he had a four against the Dogs. He doesn’t kick many bags.
“When I see (Jesse) Hogan, (Jamie) Elliott, (Jack) Gunston, Peter Wright all kick bags, I want to see Charlie Curnow kick a bag.”
Curnow will be hoping he can deliver on Cornes’ urgings at Marvel Stadium on Saturday against the Giants.
