Caroline Wilson has spoken about her return to Channel 7 after almost 20 years.
The acclaimed journalist has joined a star-studded line-up at Seven alongside fellow recruits Kane Cornes and Craig Hutchison for the 2025 AFL season and beyond.
Wilson opened up about the move from Channel 9 to Seven on the Don’t Shoot The Messenger podcast.
“I think Channel 7 is footy’s natural home,” said Wilson.
“I did work on Talking Footy for three years (2000-2002) with Bruce McAvaney, Robert Walls, David Barham, Andrew Maher and Tim Watson.
“That was a great show but looking back I was a baby in television terms and I was very much an Age journo whose main shtick was breaking stories for The Age.
“I now understand in this multimedia landscape that you can do anything at any time and one rubs off against the other.
“What Channel 7 is doing is so exciting and it all happened for me very, very quickly. There wasn’t a big lead-up to making this decision.
“I loved Channel 9 and I loved my time there, and 18 years is something I’m really proud of.
“It was a very emotional decision.”
