Curnow sends scare through Carlton camp

Charlie Curnow was involved in a collision with teammate Tom De Koning at Carlton training on Wednesday night.
The dual Coleman Medallist limped off the IKON Park training ground during the Blues’ evening session ahead of Friday night’s MCG clash with St Kilda.
SEN’s Sam Edmund says the Blues insist Curnow, who has had knee issues in the past, has not damaged his left knee but concedes the star forward is a “watch” for the Saints clash.
“Nothing quite sets the tongues wagging like a Charlie Curnow injury scare,” Edmund said on SEN Breakfast.
“That was the case last night at Carlton’s main training under lights at IKON Park. He was involved in a heavy collision with Tom De Koning and unfortunately for Charlie he came off second best.
“He limped off from the track, he didn’t take any further part in the session. Witnesses that were there say that he grabbed at his knee and that always is a concern with his left knee.
“The Blues are absolutely adamant that there is no knock to the knee, there’s no structural issue with the knee, there’s no knee injury at all.
“In fact, they’re quite confident he’ll still play St Kilda tomorrow night. He’s going to have to train in the captain’s run today but I think he’d be pretty sore this morning.
“He’s a watch for now.”
Curnow underwent a minor procedure on his knee in February which resulted in a slow start to his 2025 campaign.
He has kicked 15 goals in seven outings so far in 2025, most recently booting two majors in the heavy loss to Adelaide last weekend.
