Cameron Mooney names his locks for the 2025 AFL top 8
Cameron Mooney believes there are five teams who will definitely make this year’s top eight.
The three-time premiership star acknowledged it’s almost a “waste of time” to try and predict the top eight, but he is feeling confident about a group of teams.
Mooney is tipping his former club Geelong to again play finals in 2025.
“I've got Geelong as a lock,” Mooney said on SEN's Sportsday.
“(They play) 10 games down here at Kardinia Park, I think it's one of the biggest advantages in the AFL, and plus, I just think they're still a very good team.
“They were two kicks away from playing in another Grand Final, so I think they're going to be okay.”
Mooney also likes GWS having worked at the club as a specialist key position coach last year.
Along with the Giants, he can see finals on the horizon for reigning premiers Brisbane plus Hawthorn and Fremantle.
“I think the Giants after last year's hurt, I know they've been very, very driven over the pre-season,” he added.
“And we've been waiting for Jakey Stringer to have a really good pre-season.
“From all reports he is absolutely flying at the moment… He's dropped a lot of weight and looking fantastic.
“Obviously, Brisbane, Hawthorn and as I said (earlier in the interview), Fremantle.”
