Blackcaps batter Nicholls reported for ball tampering after damning vision emerges
Video has emerged of Blackcaps Test squad member Henry Nicholls allegedly engaging in ball tampering during Day 3 of a Plunket Shield match between Auckland and Canterbury.
During the livestream that is provided by New Zealand Cricket, it shows the Canterbury batter shining the ball with his sleeve, before allegedly making contact with the helmet in his hand on three occasions between overs.
Via press release, NZC have acknowledged the accusations of ball tampering and confirm it will be investigated.
"Nicholls has been reported for allegedly breaching Rule 3.1, article 1.15 of the Code during Day 3 of the Plunket Shield match between Canterbury and Auckland at Hagley Oval," the statement said.
"Rule 3.1, article 1.15 involves changing the condition of the ball in breach of Law 41.3 of the Laws of Cricket.
"As a Level 2 matter, the allegation will be referred to, and heard by an NZC First Class Commissioner."
In great form for Canterbury, Nicholls posted an innings of 120 against Auckland, following from his previous scores of 123 and 61 tallied last week against Otago.
This week he was included in the Blackcaps for November's two-match Test series in Bangladesh.
