"Absolute dolly": SEN Cricket reacts to Jacks' dropped catch
The SEN Cricket team would give their reaction to Will Jacks dropping Travis Head in the Fifth Ashes Test at the SCG.
The batting all-rounder dropped a sitter whilst fielding out on the leg side boundary, with the South Australian on 121, leaving many bewildered how he could have done it.
One of those was Stuart Broad, who couldn’t believe Jacks dropped an “absolute dolly”.
“That is as easy a chance as you are going to get,” Broad said on SEN Cricket.
“Out at deep square leg, bouncer field set, banged into the surface.
“Travis Head predetermined (his shot), he really backed away, and it was an absolute dolly.
“And it’s in the air so long, I don’t think there is a way he could have not picked it up. He’s seen it all the way, and he’s closed his hands on it way too early.”
Alongside Broad, Adam Collins was quite bemused by Jacks’ action and whether it might affect England’s chances of winning.
“How about taking his eyes off of it at the crucial moment?” Collins lamented.
“That’s an odd bit of fielding. It’s going to cost England, you just sense it.”
And it certainly has with Head having made 163 before getting out lbw to Jacob Bethell, helping Australia get under 100 runs of England’s total.
