Mason’s massive call on Freo’s list
Fremantle recruit Mason Cox is extremely bullish about his new club’s playing list.
The former Collingwood ruck/forward has officially joined the Dockers as an SSP player following his Magpies exit.
Immediately Cox has made a big call relating to his new home - labelling Justin Longmuir’s Freo list as the best in the game.
β€œIt might be a bit bullish to say but I do think it’s the best list in the comp to be honest with you,” Cox told Freo media.
β€œYou look at exactly what they were able to do last year and the streak of wins that they put together - it’s pretty impressive.
β€œHopefully I can add a bit of experience and everything else to continue that success.”

SEN Breakfast pair Sam Edmund and Cam Mooney were quick to assess Cox’s confident comments.
They wondered if the Dockers do actually have the best playing list or if that title should be reserved for other teams.
Edmund: β€œOh, he’s got excited, he’s turned salesman!
β€œβ€˜It might be a bit bullish to say but this is the best list in the game’.”
Mooney: β€œYou know what? I’m not too far off him as well because I actually had them finishing top four and I was pretty disappointed they didn’t.
β€œI’ve got them right up there next year. On paper, yes (they’ll finish top four), but they’ve let me down the last couple of years.”
Edmund: β€œThey’re not the best list in the game though?”
Mooney: β€œNot the best, but they’re right up there. They have got a very good list.”
Edmund: β€œClearly, as they’ve won the last two premierships, Brisbane have got the best list in the game.
β€œAnd I think Geelong have got one of the best lists in the game as well.”
Mooney: β€œYeah, wouldn’t be far off it.
β€œBut I don’t disagree with him that Fremantle have a very, very good list and I think they should be a hell of a lot better than they have been.
β€œI think next year they should be at least a prelim final. I think next year is Justin Longmuir’s big year, otherwise…”
Edmund: β€œHe’s got his new recruit, his old mate Mason Cox saying you’re coaching the best list in the game and you can’t win an elimination final against the Suns at home!”
Mooney: β€œNo pressure, β€˜JL’.”
Cox will team up with Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson to form a ruck triumvirate in purple next year.
He was keen to work alongside the pair and do everything in his power to make Freo better.
β€œIt's kind of a weird thing, because Sean and I have somewhat of a connection through friends back home in the US, and Luke I've kind of known throughout the years of playing against him,” Cox said.
β€œIt’s a bit of a fraternity of sorts for ruckmen. You always have mutual respect for someone who plays a very similar position to you, so I'm excited to get over there, catch up with them for a coffee, and just pick their brains to see exactly how I can help out.”
