Brisbane star set to miss remainder of the season
SCANS have confirmed Eric Hipwood has a partial tear of his ACL in yet another blow to the Lions' premiership defence.
A day after co-captain Lachie Neale’s calf strain almost certainly ended his season, it can be revealed Hipwood has a serious knee injury.
In a curious series of events, Hipwood recently went for an unrelated scan as he tries to overcome a calf injury.
But it was in his examination that the partial tear was revealed.
It's unclear how long Hipwood had actually been playing with the injury for.
But the diagnosis throws his September comeback completely up in the air. Hipwood had not played since the Round 23 win over Fremantle.
Neale will soon undergo scans on his own calf injury, which came in the last quarter of his first game back from a quad strain.
But the Lions aren’t holding out much hope he can play again this season.
