Why the Broncos must learn to be "boring"

SEN’s Corey Parker has slammed the Brisbane Broncos’ refusal to play “boring” and grind out ugly wins.
The Broncos suffered their fourth loss from their past five matches following their 22-14 loss to an injury plagued South Sydney Rabbitohs side.
Brisbane led 14-0 at half time but then conceded 22 unanswered points in the second half and have now slumped to a 5-5 record.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the Broncos always feel like they have to win by 30 points,” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast.
“They feel like they sometimes need to win by 40 to make it comprehensive.
“A win is a win no matter how you do it and when you play in the NRL across the season, you have to win in all different ways.
“The conditions in Sydney on Friday night were diabolical.
“It was awful. Zero crowd, rubbish surface and it was wet and slippery.
“They were up 14-0 and if they then went on to win 14-0, it’s two competition points. You bag them and you move forward.
“That’s where their mindset needed to shift to. Bite down on the mouthguards, kick to the corners and make it a boring contest.
“Ask South Sydney to throw a few risks.”
The Broncos return home to Suncorp Stadium in Round 11 and will host the St George Illawarra Dragons on Sunday afternoon.
Coach Michael Maguire could be tempted to select playmaker Ezra Mam following a successful return in the Queensland Cup over the weekend.
Mam scored a try and had three try assists in just 47 minutes of game time in Souths Logan’s 66-10 win over Western Clydesdales.
Mam was placed on report for a high tackle and faces a nervous wait from Queensland Rugby League to see if he will serve a suspension.
If available, Parker believes he will slot straight back into the Broncos first grade side.
“I expect Ezra Mam to come straight back into that side,” Parked added.
“He’s a runner, he’s off the cuff and he provides doubt into the defensive players’ minds.
“I think Ben Hunt has been dull in his performances over the last few weeks.”
