Who did the coaches miss in Round 8?
Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has assessed which players were overlooked in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.
See who the coaches missed below:
Rhylee West (Western Bulldogs)
“Third-highest rated player on the ground,” Hoyne told SEN’s Sportsday.
“Fantastic ball use was his main asset.
“15 disposals, 10 score involvements.”
Alex Neal-Bullen (Adelaide)
“Fourth-highest rated player (on the ground).
“Inside the top 30 (players in the competition) at the moment, having a career-best season.
“He’s been a great pickup there for Adelaide.”
Caleb Windsor (Melbourne)
“(He’s) gonna be so important to Melbourne moving forward.
“His ball use is what separates him.
“Fifth-highest rated player on the ground, didn’t get a vote.”
Oliver Dempsey (Geelong)
“Actually the highest-rated player on the ground.
“Treat him as a forward, don’t treat him as a winger – you will get burnt if you do.”
Tom McCartin (Sydney)
“Second-highest rated player on the ground.
“(McCartin) kept (Jesse) Hogan to the third-lowest rated player on the ground.
“Superb in what Tom McCartin did on Sunday.”
Hoyne also revealed the round’s Most Damaging Player (MDP).
“Ed Richards, that’s the second-best game we’ve seen by any Bulldogs player in our ratings history.
“Well done to Ed Richards.”
