Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has assessed which players were overlooked in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.
See who the coaches missed below:
Sam Walsh (Carlton)
"Fourth-highest rated player (against) North… didn’t get a vote," Daniel Hoyne told SEN’s Sportsday.
"Off the back of being the fifth-highest rated player (against) West Coast.
"Good to see Sam Walsh back into some form.
"Great for Blues supporters, two weeks in a row."
Andrew Brayshaw (Fremantle)
"Highest-rated game of his career.”
"Number one rated player on the ground, currently the third-best player in the competition, but didn’t get a vote.
"Could not believe this."
Tom Green (GWS)
"Highest-rated player (against) Adelaide.”
"Actually having a really good year, the best year of his career.
"Top 20 player in the comp at the moment.
"Didn’t get a vote."
Ben Long (Gold Coast)
"Love this guy, couldn’t believe he didn’t get a vote on the weekend,” Hoyne exclaimed.
"I thought he was the only person looking threatening for Gold Coast.
"He’s flying at the moment, currently the second-highest rated player in the comp."
Sam Powell-Pepper (Port Adelaide)
"Fourth-highest rated player on the ground… didn’t get a vote.”
"He’s critical to what Port Adelaide are able to do inside that forward 50."
Hoyne also revealed the round’s Most Damaging Player (MDP).
"One that actually really surprised me here," Hoyne said.
"Joel Freijah from the Dogs."
