Who did the coaches miss in Round 15?
Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has assessed which players were overlooked in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.
See who the coaches missed below:
Josh Treacy (Fremantle)
“Third-highest rated player on the ground, didn’t get a vote,” Hoyne to SEN’s Sportsday.
“He was accurate in front of goal, very accurate in front of goal.
“11 disposals, involved in 8 scores, kicked 3 goals straight.
“Going along very nicely.”
Mitch McGovern (Carlton)
“Second-highest rated player on the ground, didn’t get a vote from the coaches.”
“16 disposals, 4 goals, no one used it better.
“No one used the ball better on the ground then what Mitch McGovern did.”
Max Hall (St Kilda)
“I like what this guy does for St Kilda,” Hoyne exclaimed.
“He’s quite creative with ball in hand.
“Fourth-highest rated player on the ground, didn’t get a vote.
“Only 12 disposals, but 9 contested possessions for that type of player is rare.
“7 score involvements from those 12 disposals, and 1 goal.
“So, did really well.”
Jarrod Witts (Gold Coast)
“Highest-rated player on the ground.”
“Considering the damage that Gold Coast did out of centre bounce, he was influential, and that was probably almost the reason why they got over the line with their centre bounce work.
“So, surprised he didn’t actually get a vote from the coaches in that game.”
Hoyne also revealed the round’s Most Damaging Player (MDP).
“Overall, Luke Jackson as has been widely recognised,” Hoyne revealed.
“The highest-rated game ever by a Docker.
“No player had greater influence (than) what he did.”
