Who did the coaches miss in Round 13?
Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has assessed which players were overlooked in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.
See who the coaches missed below:
Dion Prestia
“Highest rated player on the ground against Sydney," Hoyne told SEN Sportsday.
“I understand that he didn’t get a vote given that they lost by 50 points or so, but his first two games back, he has been superb.
“Second highest rated player on the ground against GWS the week before as well.”
Tom Atkins
“One vote from the coaches, we had him as the highest rated player on the ground.
“So important to what this team does and will do moving forward. Kicked three goals in his last four weeks as well, on top of the defensive actions.”
Jy Simpkin
“Really important on Sunday, especially in that last quarter against West Coast.
“He did get the one vote from the coaches; we had him as the fourth highest rated player on the ground.
“Kicked five goals in his last five games, three of those five games rated really well. In some nice form at the moment.”
Will Setterfield
“His job on Patrick Cripps on Sunday night was superb.
“We had him as the third highest rated player on the ground. Cripps was the 26th.”
Jack Crisp
“Didn’t get a vote again from the coaches, third highest rated player on the ground.
“Just does everything well. 21 disposals, but does everything well.”
Hoyne also revealed the round’s Most Damaging Player (MDP), with Sportsday co-host Kane Cornes commending the star defender's performance.
“Highest-rated player from the weekend was Sam Taylor,” Hoyne said.
“Probably a bit of concern for GWS."
"He played the perfect game," Cornes added.
"I don't think you can play better than that. Ronud 13, if he doesn't get three Brownlow votes, I don't care who won... ridiculous."
