Whateley calls all the big moments as Eagles dominate Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX
The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl LIX champions after trashing the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22 in New Orleans.
The Eagles opened up the scoring in the first quarter thanks to a Jalen Hurts touchdown from a quarterback shove and would go into the first break up 0-7.
It was the second quarter when things began to go really wrong for the Chiefs, with Patrick Mahomes rattled by a fierce Eagles defence leading Cooper DeJean to intercept the Kansas City star for the second touchdown of the game.
Another turnover then followed with a second Mahomes interception which allowed the Eagles to open up a 0-24 half-time lead once Hurts found A.J. Brown in the endzone.
Everything needed to go right for the Chiefs to come back from there, and once Jake Elliott notched his second field goal of the game to stretch the lead to 27, things looked grim.
That final nail came with 2:40 left in the third once Hurts found DeVonta Smith with a huge 46-yard touchdown. Kansas City’s first score came once Mahomes found Xavier Worthy to bring the score to 6-34.
While the Chiefs found the endzone a couple of times in the fourth, it was party time for the Eagles as they finished with an 18-point victory.
Philadelphia Offensive Tackle Jordan Mailata also becomes Australia's first Super Bowl winner, while it's the Eagles' second Super Bowl victory after winning it all in 2018.
