Sport Nation •  December 5th, 2025 3:41 pm

The first week of December doesn't just single the countdown to Christmas as advent calendars are opened each morning - it's also the season for Spotify Wrapped.
After recently marking the station's first birthday, Sport Nation now heads into its second year. But first it felt appropriate to celebrate a little and take stock of some achievements via the annual Spotify event.
Our breakfast show Scotty & Izzy (6-9am weekdays) was the No. 1 podcast of the year for 629 fans with an increased listening time of 47%.Sport Nation Mornings (9am-12pm weekdays) - which features NZ cricket great Ian Smith, plus Riccardo Ball and Alex Chapman - was the top podcast for 224 listeners with an increase in followers of 48%.Sport Nation Afternoons also enjoyed a follower increase of 37% and was No. 1 for 190 Sport Nation listeners. The 12-3pm weekday show is hosted on Mondays by Daniel McHardy, then Mark Stafford for the rest of the week. The station's flagship lineup is rounded out by Millsy & Guy, who garnered a new audience of one thousand as former Blackcaps paceman Kyle Mills and Guy Heveldt took the reins of the 3-6pm weekday slot from the first week of May.Elsewhere on Sport Nation, the Studs Up! Podcast showed that New Zealand does love its football by seeing an incredible 205% follower growth. The Rural Roundup was the No. 1 podcast for 500 fans, while The Rugby Run (12-2pm Sundays) had increases in listening time and followers by 108% and 76% respectively. To celebrate the encouraging growth, Scotty & Izzy producer Robbie McFarlane - nicknamed 'Alpha' for reasons that will become clear - played Dagg's most streamed song of the year, getting the former All Black off his seat and dancing as he does.Watch the video below to see what happened next:Izzy Dagg gets Alpha'd | Scotty & Izzy
