Carayannis: What Pezet’s deal means for Cameron Munster
Michael Carayannis has shed light on what Jonah Pezet’s new contract could mean for Cameron Munster’s future at the Storm.
Pezet has inked a 12-month contract with the Parramatta Eels for 2026, before he moves on to the Brisbane Broncos on a multi-year deal from 2027, per The Daily Telegraph.
It’s an irregular situation with Pezet signing two contracts, made possible by an exit clause in his Melbourne contract tied to the club’s retention of Jahrome Hughes.
Pezet’s move will have ripple effects for multiple players in Parramatta, Brisbane, and Melbourne, particularly Cameron Munster.
Munster’s future at the Storm were largely tied to Pezet’s, with discussions around Munster being granted a release from the Storm to be the inaugural signing at the Perth Bears hinging on Pezet remaining.
Now Pezet is leaving the club, Michael Carayannis revealed an early move for Munster is now “impossible”.

“It won’t happen. There’s no way the Storm will let Cameron Munster go to Perth now,” Carayannis said on SEN 1170 Drive.
“The way it could have played out is if Munster left and Pezet stayed then, but they're not gonna cut Cameron Munster 12 months early.
“Remember, he's got two years left on his contract so to be the Perth inaugural signing… he needs to play one more season at Melbourne, then gain a release for the following season.
“I think in the short term, at the very least, that's at long odds of happening.
“I had the expectation that come before Christmas, he would have been given permission to talk to Perth. That's not gonna happen.
“Whether or not we get to a midway point of next year and things change, potentially, but in the short term, no.”
