The NZ Warriors have secured star hooker Wayde Egan until the end of the 2028 NRL season, with the 29-year-old signing a one-year contract extension.
Egan was originally contracted through to the end of 2027 but the Warriors have moved early to retain one of their most important players following a standout 2026 campaign.
The Australian was named Hooker of the Year at last month's Dally M Awards after making 25 appearances for the club this season, averaging 30 tackles per game and recording career-best numbers for try assists (13) and offloads (13).

Warriors general manager of recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden said Egan had become a key asset for the club, both on and off the field.
“Wayde has been a huge asset for us and is well established as one of the best hookers in the competition,” McFadden said.
“He loves being with Warriors while his experience is invaluable helping the next generation of hookers coming through our pathways system.”
Egan has made 146 appearances for the Warriors since joining the club in 2020, with his career NRL tally sitting at 175 games.
He is on track to reach his 200th career appearance and 150th game for the Warriors next season.
The extension also puts Egan in a position to become the most-capped Australian player in Warriors history, surpassing the current record of 188 appearances held by former prop Jacob Lillyman.
