A beautiful Canterbury day in spring - what could be better? How about fish and chips by the beach with a New Zealand Olympic champion?
Earlier in the year on Sport Nation's Scotty & Izzy, former All Black Israel Dagg placed a bet with Kiwi high jumper Hamish Kerr.
Inspired by Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis who received money for breaking the men's world record, Kerr thought free fish and chips for life might be a good NZ equivalent and just the inspiration needed to finish top of his event at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Dagg posed the question back in August about the men's high jump world record: "2 metres 45, is that a realistic jump for you, Hamish? Do you have belief that anyone could possibly get near that?"
"It's a pretty insane world record," Kerr responded, set back in 1993 by Cuba's Javier Sotomayor.
"I think for me, in the immediate term, 2.40 is a massive goal that I really want to tick off. There are people within my team who will challenge me on that thinking around what is possible.
"I wouldn't completely write off doing a world record and getting free fish and chips for life, that's for sure."

To get the ball rolling and provide the 'real motivation' Kerr needed, Dagg's co-host Scotty Stevenson staked a free feed on the 1.98m tall Kiwi winning the high jump final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
Kerr's jump of 2.36m was enough to separate him from South Korea's Woo Sang-hyeok in the Tokyo final and equal his own Oceania record.
Fast forward to November, Dagg has made good on that bet. But Kerr wasn't the only one that showed up for a seaside serving of fish, chips, plus hot dogs, potato fritters, and some deep fried mussels.
Two-time Olympic bronze medalist Tom Walsh just happened to be in the neighbourhood and joined the pair as training for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics ramps up for the shot putter.
