Was Mitch Moses out of line in berating teammate Da Silva?
SEN’s Andrew Voss has supported Parramatta Eels captain Mitchell Moses following his heated outbursts towards teammate Tallyn Da Silva.
During Parramatta’s narrow 19-18 win over the North Queensland Cowboys on Sunday, Da Silva made a number of handling errors from hooker which caught the ire of his captain Moses.
Despite criticism from some over Moses’ language and aggression towards his dummy-half, Voss believes the actions for the Eels skipper demonstrate strong leadership and a desire to uphold standards.
“Poor old Tallyn Da Silva. He possibly played the worst five or six minutes from a dummy half in the history of the game,” Voss said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“I’m not saying that flippantly. I’m saying that honestly.
“I don’t think I’ve seen a dummy half make so many mistakes and errors of judgement in a short period with his team only ahead by one.
“The on-field berating from Mitchell Moses, that’s happened before plenty of times but in this instance, it happened three times in the span of five minutes.
“How do you come back from that? Moses lost his you-know what and I can absolutely understand.
“Parramatta fans can certainly understand. It was unbelievable and unbelievably bad from Da Silva.
“There’s no escaping it. People will ask about his mental health but no, he is playing football and this bloke has been signed for four-and-a-half years.

“He tried to go to the glory play on the last tackle and then three times, he threw the ball and it rolled along the ground all while they were 20 metres out.”
Da Silva joined the Eels mid-season from the Wests Tigers after the Tigers opted to re-sign hooker Api Koroisau which denied Da Silva a direct path as starting hooker.
SEN’s Greg Alexander admitted that he delivered and was one the receiving end of verbal sprays from his teammates during his playing days.
“I haven’t seen that in ages,” Alexander said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“I thought stuff like that had died out our game.
“It is absolutely fair game (and) I can’t remember a player being berated like that.
“Da Silva probably deserved it too (and) I’m not going to criticise Mitch Moses over it.”
The Eels take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.
