Veteran Eagle Sheed suffers torn ACL at pre-season training
Veteran Eagle Dom Sheed has suffered a ruptured ACL at training, the club has confirmed.
The 2018 premiership hero was injured on Monday, with subsequent scans confirming the severity of the injury in his right knee.
While the club hasn’t confirmed how long the 29-year-old will miss, he’ll likely now miss all or most of the 2025 AFL season.
Eagles General Manager of Football Gavin Bell spoke on the extremely disappointing news in a club statement.

“Unfortunately, Dom ruptured his ACL in an innocuous incident during training on Monday,” Bell said.
“It is extremely disappointing news for Dom after a wretched run with injuries over recent seasons, and I know our players, staff and entire Club will offer him their full support during his rehabilitation.
“We will take some time now to consult with Dom and medical experts about the next step, and we will provide a further update at the appropriate time.”
Sheed played just eight games in 2024 due to foot and hamstring issues. He’s played 24 combined games since the end of the 2021 season.
The Eagles open their season with a Round 1 clash against Gold Coast at Optus Stadium on Sunday, March 16.
