Sea Eagles fullback Tom Trbojevic has suffered a suspected MCL injury in Manly's 26-12 victory over the Parramatta Eels, in a day where all attention was on departing skipper Daly Cherry-Evans.
Trbojevic came into the game with his right knee heavily strapped, before reportedly hearing a "pop" in his left knee.
The Manly fullback looked hampered as he soldiered through the remainder of the first half before immediately heading up the tunnel at halftime.
Trbojevic did not return for the second half, replaced at fullback by Lehi Hopoate for the remainder of the match, with news of his injury emerging from the Manly sheds shortly after halftime.
It's another injury for 'Turbo', who was already returning in this game from hamstring tightness after missing last week's clash against the Raiders.
While in commentary for Fox League, Andrew Voss and Greg Alexander were shocked Trbojevic finished the first half.
“He heard a pop and stayed on? It’s not something you run out. That’s an odd one,” Voss said, while Alexander added, "That can’t continue. I can almost feel the disappointment in him."
Despite the injury, the Sea Eagles were dominant winners, moving into second on the NRL live ladder.
It's been a tumultuous week for the Northern Beaches club, with captain Daly Cherry-Evans announcing on Monday he would depart the club at season's end after 15 years.
All attention leading into the match was on how the loyal Manly crowd would react to their champion halfback given the media scrutiny he, and the club, have been under since the captain's announcement.
Cheers and applause from the crowd of 17,286 drowned out the few boos; a relief to Cherry-Evans after the game.
"I was definitely a bit more nervous (coming into this game)," Cherry-Evans said post-match.
"It's hard to separate the personal side of it and the ego because this week took a bit of a hit with people trying to run a smear campaign against me, but this is my favourite time of the week.
"This is the time I love the most... when I get to come out here and just play."
The Sea Eagles now turn their attention 4 Pines Park in seven days, where they take on the Melbourne Storm, most likely with Trbojevic.
