Trade talk: Why Pies ruck should be West Coast’s “number one target”
Coleman Medallist Scott Cummings has urged West Coast to target Collingwood ruckman Darcy Cameron via trade.
While the Herald Sun is reporting that Cameron is keen to stay a Magpie, there has been no progression on a new deal to keep him at the club beyond the 2026 season.
Hailing from Perth club Claremont, Gossage thinks that the 29-year-old presents as an ideal target for the Eagles who have struggled in the ruck department since the retirement of Nic Naitanui.
The SEN WA host’s big call came after Cameron put in a near-best afield performance against Carlton’s Tom De Koning last Thursday, with the Magpie collecting 22 disposals, eight clearances, five intercept marks and five tackles.

“Darcy Cameron should be the West Coast Eagles' number one target because I think he's possibly the best ruckman in the competition at the moment,” Gossage said on SEN WA Breakfast.
“I'm a huge fan of his. Over the last season and the bit that we've played so far (in 2025), he has gone leaps and bounds ahead of where the early stages of his career were.
“I think he's in his absolute prime and he should be their number one target because the ruck is a bit of an issue for them at the moment.
“Bailey Williams, he'll try his backside off for you (but isn’t as good as Cameron),
“Matt Flynn, I'm not sure if he's up to it. He’s good in the WAFL but there’s a big, big gap between that and AFL.”
Cameron plays his 100th AFL game and 99th for Collingwood when the Magpies face his former club Sydney on Friday night at Gather Round.
