Trade talk: North Melbourne urged to go after Collingwood veteran

North Melbourne has been urged to pursue Collingwood’s Jeremy Howe.
Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary says the Magpies are yet to table a formal offer to the 35-year-old defender who is without a contract beyond this year.
The Kangaroos recently missed out on Richmond’s Nathan Broad and Brayden Maynard, so now they should be asking the question of Maynard’s Pies premiership teammate Howe.
According to Cleary, Howe would be the perfect veteran to guide North’s emerging defensive group.
“Still no formal contract offer (for Howe) from the Pies,” Cleary said on The Agenda Setters.
“North Melbourne, they’ve missed on Nathan Broad and Brayden Maynard. I think he would be the perfect guy to go and nurture some of these young defenders.
“We’ve seen Will Dawson, Charlie Comben is still finding his feet, so to go and partner as that third tall in defence for a year or two at North Melbourne.
“Still at this point he’s yet to receive an offer from Collingwood.”
Are the Pies keen to keep Howe?
“They are keen to a level but there’s still nothing formal yet,” Cleary replied.
“I think that’s going to be thrashed out over the next two or three weeks.”
Howe has been in terrific form in season 2025, coinciding with Collingwood’s position on top of the ladder after 19 rounds.
The Roos recruited veterans Luke Parker, Jack Darling and Caleb Daniel from other clubs last trade period.
