Topuria vs Gaethje: UFC Freedom 250 bets and analysis (15/06)
Connor Scanlon • June 14th, 2026 11:33 am

The UFC takes place at the White House on Monday for America's 250th-year anniversary, celebrating their independence.
The historic, open-air event is being held on the South Lawn of the White House and coincides with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
The event features a stacked lineup of seven bouts, including two title fights. Lightweight champion Ilia Topuria is headlining the event and will be defending his title against the interim champion Justin Gaethje, while Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane are fighting for the interim heavyweight title as the co-main event.

Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje (Main event)
Odds:Ilia Topuria - $1.18Justin Gaethje - $4.90
Analysis:Ilia Topuria enters this fight as arguably the best fighter in the world right now, and it’s difficult to argue against that claim given his recent performances.
Topuria is riding what may be the greatest three-fight knockout streak in UFC history, stopping Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira. What makes him so dangerous is his elite-level boxing, while also secretly boasting high-level jiu-jitsu, meaning opponents have to respect every aspect of his game.
Justin Gaethje, on the other hand, is the definition of a brawler. He thrives in chaotic exchanges, constantly moving forward and willingly absorbing damage to give shots back. While that style has made him one of the most exciting fighters in the sport, it is extremely dangerous against someone as precise and powerful as Topuria.
Against most opponents, Gaethje’s durability and pressure can overwhelm them. But against Topuria, that approach feels like a recipe for disaster. The Georgian-Spaniard is far too sharp and too accurate to allow Gaethje to have prolonged success in the pocket.
While the fight may be closer than the betting odds suggest, the outcome feels inevitable. The only real question is how long Gaethje can survive. Topuria has confidently predicted a first-round knockout all week, and given his recent track record of calling his shots, it’s hard to doubt him.
Expect Topuria to find the finish, and likely early.
Prediction:Ilia Topuria to win by KO/TKO.
Play:Ilia Topuria to win by KO/TKO.
Ilia Topuria to win by KO/TKO in Round 1.
Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane (Co-main)
Odds:Alex Pereira - $1.91Ciryl Gane - $1.92
Analysis:Alex Pereira is attempting to make history in this matchup, chasing the incredible feat of becoming a three-division UFC champion.
While the narrative is compelling and fans will undoubtedly be behind him, the challenge in front of him cannot be overstated. Winning titles across three divisions, particularly when moving up to heavyweight, is extraordinarily difficult.
Pereira has been the betting favourite throughout the build-up, but there are clear concerns. He is not a natural heavyweight, and physically he appears slower and more overweight than usual. While his knockout power will always give him a chance, he will likely need a near-flawless performance to get the job done.
Ciryl Gane, by contrast, is a natural heavyweight with elite speed and athleticism. He moves far better than most fighters in the division and carries legitimate power of his own. Importantly, his only losses have come against Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou, which speaks volumes about his level.
Gane’s speed advantage is likely to be the key factor here. His ability to move in and out, manage distance and avoid prolonged exchanges should make life extremely difficult for Pereira.
While Pereira always presents danger with his power, the overall skillset and physical advantages of Gane should allow him to control the fight and sadly deny Pereira his historic moment.
Prediction:Ciryl Gane to win.
Play:Ciryl Gane to win.
Sean O'Malley vs. Aiemann Zahabi
Odds:Sean O'Malley - $1.20Aiemann Zahabi - $4.60
Analysis:Sean O’Malley has been one of the most impressive strikers in the bantamweight division, with a near-flawless UFC run aside from two losses to Merab Dvalishvili and an unfortunate defeat to Marlon Vera.
O’Malley is a clinical operator on the feet, utilising precision, timing and creativity to break opponents down. When he is allowed to strike freely, very few fighters in the division can match him.
However, his biggest vulnerability remains his defensive grappling. O’Malley can be taken down, and his ability to get back to his feet has been a concern at times.
For Aiemann Zahabi, the path to victory is clear – he needs to wrestle. But based on his own comments coming into the fight, he appears intent on keeping the fight standing. If that remains the case, he will be playing directly into O’Malley’s strengths.
On the feet, the gap in striking ability is significant. If Zahabi doesn’t mix in takedowns, it’s very difficult to see how he can defeat O’Malley over three rounds.
O’Malley should control the fight on the feet and put on a striking showcase.
Prediction:Sean O'Malley to win.
Josh Hokit vs. Derrick Lewis
Odds:Josh Hokit - $1.23Derrick Lewis - $4.25
Analysis:This fight is a classic case of game plan versus temptation.
On paper, Josh Hokit should have a very straightforward path to victory. Derrick Lewis has long struggled with grappling, and if Hokit commits to taking the fight to the ground, he should be able to absolutely finish the fight.
The concern, however, is Hokit’s approach. He enjoys entertaining fights and has shown a willingness to engage in wars on the feet. Against Lewis, that is an extremely dangerous choice.
Lewis holds the record for the most knockouts in UFC history and carries fight-ending power in every exchange. He only needs one clean shot to end the fight, and Hokit has already shown durability concerns in previous scraps, particularly in his previous fight with Curtis Blaydes, where he absorbed significant damage.
If Hokit fights intelligently, he should win. But if he allows himself to get drawn into a striking battle, the entire dynamic of the fight changes.
Expect Hokit to have the advantage in every aspect of the fight, but if Hokit decides to keep the fight standing, there is very real knockout danger from Lewis if he doesn’t stick to a grappling-heavy approach.
Prediction:Josh Hokit to win.
Play:Derrick Lewis by KO/TKO.
Mauricio Ruffy vs. Michael Chandler
Odds:Mauricio Ruffy - $1.15Michael Chandler - $5.50
Analysis:Mauricio Ruffy is one of the most exciting striking prospects in the division, bringing an elite kickboxing style that has drawn comparisons to prime Conor McGregor.
Ruffy is creative, explosive and always hunting for highlight-reel finishes. However, his weaknesses have already been exposed, particularly in his takedown defence and ability to handle sustained grappling pressure.
Michael Chandler presents a very different challenge. A well-rounded veteran, Chandler has the ability to mix striking and wrestling effectively, and his path to victory here clearly lies in utilising his grappling.
The concern for Chandler, however, is his current form. At 40 years old and without a win since 2022, there are clear signs of decline. Against a young, dynamic striker like Ruffy, that could be a significant issue.
On the feet, Ruffy holds a clear advantage and should be able to dictate the fight if it remains standing. While Chandler can still be dangerous, particularly if he commits to wrestling, the momentum and youth advantage sit firmly with Ruffy.
Expect Ruffy to either find a knockout or do enough damage on the feet to secure a decision victory.
Prediction:Mauricio Ruffy to win.
Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus
Odds:Bo Nickal - $1.30Kyle Daukaus - $3.52
Analysis:Bo Nickal continues his rise as one of the UFC’s most promising prospects, with the promotion clearly backing him to become a future American star.
Nickal’s wrestling is already elite, and while his striking is still developing, it is steadily improving and showing signs of becoming a legitimate threat.
Kyle Daukaus presents an interesting opponent. After being cut from the UFC in 2022 following a difficult run, he has since returned and picked up two quick first-round finishes. That resurgence suggests he is not to be overlooked.
However, the overall trajectory of both fighters points in very different directions. Nickal is improving rapidly and possesses a skillset that is difficult for most opponents to handle, particularly his wrestling dominance.
If Nickal is able to impose his grappling, he should be able to control the fight and demonstrate why the UFC is so invested in his development.
Expect Nickal to assert himself and secure the victory.
Prediction:Bo Nickal to win.
Diego Lopes vs. Steve Garcia
Odds:Diego Lopes - $1.63Steve Garcia - $2.29
Analysis:This is a perfect fight to open the card and has all the ingredients for a high-paced, entertaining battle.
While Diego Lopes has jiu-jitsu base, he often chooses to strike and engage in exciting exchanges on the feet. His willingness to trade adds a layer of unpredictability to his fights.
Steve Garcia is a long, rangy striker with strong takedown defence, which suggests this fight is likely to remain standing. If that proves to be the case, fans can expect a back-and-forth striking battle.
Lopes has already stated that he doesn’t expect the fight to go the distance, and given both fighters’ styles, that feels like a realistic prediction.
What separates Lopes from Garcia is his level of competition. His only losses have come against Alexander Volkanovski and Movsar Evloev – two of the best featherweights in the world – and that experience should translate here.
While Garcia enters the bout on a seven-fight win streak, the quality of opposition is not comparable.
It will be a competitive fight early, but Lopes’ experience against elite competition should ultimately carry him through, potentially inside the distance.
Prediction:Diego Lopes to win.
