Adam Reynolds has revealed in his new book how the Gold Coast incredibly rejected the chance to sign him in 2021 when he was leaving South Sydney.
The Brisbane captain's autobiography, 'On My Own Terms', was released to the public on Tuesday.
Reynolds details how "pissed off" he was when the Broncos sacked former coach Kevin Walters.
He also outlines the $1 million he gave up when he re-signed with the Broncos for 2026 rather than joining Wests Tigers for two seasons.
The Titans are still searching for a successful halves pairing but in 2021 Reynolds' manager Steve 'Chimes' Gillis contacted the club once it became clear the Rabbitohs were only prepared to offer him a one-year extension.
Gold Coast were one of the first clubs Reynolds reached out to after extension talks with Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly stalled. He explains why in his book.

"One of the first clubs Chimes reached out to was the Titans," Reynolds wrote.
"I always wanted to retire to the Gold Coast, my family liked the area and the beaches and cafes and the idea of having a dinghy, or something slightly flashier, docked in one of those canals that snake through the back of properties.
"Chimes figured he'd pose the question to see if there was any appetite for a halfback. 'Reynolds on the move, mate, he'd love a chat. Let me know if you think it's worthwhile,' Chimes texted a Titans official on April 6 the day after I'd met with Blake.
"'Probably not, but thanks anyways, Chimes,' the official responded on April 7.
"'Are you sure you don't want to talk to Reynolds? I'll even toss in some steak knives,' Chimes responded. But the conversation went no further."
The Titans halves that year included Tanah Boyd, Toby Sexton and Jamal Fogarty, the last of whom left for Canberra the following season.
Reynolds signed with the Broncos and transformed the club, leading them to 2025 premiership glory.
Before extending for next year he revealed how close he came to partnering Jarome Luai in the halves at the Tigers in 2026.
"Some nights I'd go to bed convinced I was going to sign with the Tigers," the 35-year-old penned.
"The family would remain in Brisbane, but the Tigers were happy for me to make frequent trips back and forth to Queensland. It was hugely appealing.
"But then I kept asking myself how on earth I could ever leave Brisbane and my mates at the Broncos.
"The money was good from the Tigers, and the reports I was giving up close to $1 million by staying put were not wide of the mark. But I made the call to stay put, and I couldn't be happier."
The only time Reynolds was seriously unhappy at the Broncos was when they sacked Walters at the end of 2024.
Reynolds was having a sauna when hooker Billy Walters texted him the sad news.
"The Broncos have only pissed me off once, and it was when they sacked Kev," Reynolds said.
"Not only did they cut loose a good man and a good coach, but they left it to the media to break the news to the players."

If there was one silver lining it was that Reynolds got to work again with his 2014 premiership-winning coach Michael 'Madge' Maguire.
"Four days after Kev was boned, Madge was given the gig," Reynolds said.
"I was excited to work with him. I started my NRL career under him. It was kind of cool how life for both of us had come full circle, albeit 900 kilometres from where we'd both started."
Reynolds, speaking at his book launch on Tuesday, said the autobiography - ghost written by respected Sydney Morning Herald journalist Christian Nicolussi - had been well received.
"Today I had a message from one of the publicists saying it was number one on Amazon for sports and outdoors," he said.
"I am certainly proud of what I have achieved."
