Darcy Cameron has signed a new contract with Collingwood.
The Magpies have confirmed that the 30-year-old ruckman has committed to the club until the end of 2029 having already been contracted for next year.
There was ongoing speculation that Cameron could possibly leave for big money at West Coast, but that has now been put to bed.
Kane Cornes and David King reacted to the news immediately after it dropped.
“This is big, that Darcy Cameron has signed a three-year contract extension,” Cornes said on SEN’s Fireball.
“Was already contracted until the end of 2026 so a four-year commitment until the end of 2029.
“Pies fans - big, big news because there was talk he was going to take the Godfather offer back home in Perth, but they’ve stitched that one up.
“A big contract.”
King added: “You’ve just got to get them done, you’ve got a find a way to satisfy all parties.
“They’ve been pretty ‘Uncle Scrooge’ with Justin Leppitsch, he’s got the abacus out, he’s managing the finances really well.”
Cameron, who has had a career-best year in 2025, was thrilled to commit to the club that gave him a chance when recruiting him from Sydney at the end of 2019.
“I’m incredibly grateful to sign on for a further three years. Collingwood is a special place and I’m proud to call it home,” Cameron said in a club statement.
“With a single game under my belt when I arrived, to now playing over 100, the Pies put their faith in me and I’ll be forever grateful for the growth and opportunities I’ve had since arriving at the Club.
“Recommitting to Collingwood was an easy decision. This Club means a lot to me and now feels like the right time to commit again.
“We have such a special group here, from the players to the coaches and all staff, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve over the coming years.”
Cameron has been one of Collingwood’s most consistent players in 2025, averaging 17.8 disposals, 28.2 hitouts and 4.2 clearances.
The Pies also confirmed that club games record holder and former captain Scott Pendlebury has signed on for 2026.
With 421 games to his name, 'Pendles' is destined to break Brent Harvey's V/AFL record of 432 next season.
“Everyone throughout the league appreciates the influence and experience that Scott brings to our side and we are pleased to have him sign on for 2026,” list boss Justin Leppitsch said.
“His professionalism is second to none, always ensuring he sets himself up to get the best out of himself and his teammates.
“In addition to his on-field contribution, it is the guidance he will provide his fellow teammates, setting the standards and embodying what it means to be a Collingwood person, that will be influential throughout our 2026 campaign and beyond.”
