“This is a crisis”: Voss and Parker react as Panthers lose five in a row
The Penrith Panthers are in crisis mode after a fifth consecutive loss, seeing them slump to 15th on the ladder with the potential to slip further.
The Dolphins delivered a hammer blow to Penrith’s five-peat chances, beating them 30-12 at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night.
This was despite being able to have the majority of the possession, having the higher completion rate of sets, running 343 metres more and being more effective with their tackles compared to the Dolphins.
Speaking on SEN 1170 Breakfast, Andrew Voss was brutally honest believing that Penrith’s performance would have seen them lose to any of the other 16 teams in the competition.

“I think the Dolphins were no better than good,” Voss said.
“It wasn’t a great performance, they were no better than good, they made Penrith look ordinary.
“Over the last four years, there would have been plenty of occasions where I have said that there is not a team in the competition that would have beaten Penrith tonight, I would have said that many times.
“I say now, and I have thought about it, there is not a team in the competition Penrith would have beaten last night. That’s how bad they were.
“This is a crisis.”
In the post-game wrap-up, SEN League commentator Corey Parker was also very critical of the performance of the four-time defending champions.
“This is a team that has not learned how to lose,” Parker declared.
“Over the last five years they have played in Grand Dinals; four of those they have won.
“So, they don’t know how to lose, now they find themselves in a position to start season 2025, one victory out of six games and that one victory was way back in Round 1 over there in Las Vegas.
“It would feel an age, so getting around training; going into video sessions, understanding what is actually going on and trying to pinpoint it would be extremely hard.
“Ivan Cleary would be up all night just trying to think and churn his brain and going how do I turn these guys around? How do I turn their mindset around to give me a performance?
“But at the end of the day, they concede over 30 points again.
“This is a team that over the last four seasons also have conceded on average 13 and a half points a game.
“They are miles off, not just a fraction, absolutely miles off.”
Parker would also question whether the Panthers would still have the motivation to win a fifth title in a row after already tasting so much success over the last four years.
“11 players played tonight that played in last year’s grand final, 11,” he added.
“That is no excuse, absolutely none at all. So, something has gone amiss.
“Complacency. Are they complacent? Are they happy with four in a row?
“You’ve got to assume human nature, you would think at some point, there’s going to be some point you go, eehh, maybe I’m just not preparing as best as I need to be.”
