The “serious shift” that could see Reid remain with Eagles

Harley Reid is looking increasingly likely to stay at West Coast at least for next year.
There has been constant chatter surrounding the no.1 draft pick and the possibility of him leaving the Eagles early after just two years of his initial three-year deal.
Plenty of Victorian clubs such as Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn and Richmond, among others, have been linked with Reid who is starting to play more consistent footy across the past few weeks.
SEN regular Tom Morris says there has been a “serious shift” in Reid’s mindset of late, so much so that it is looking more and more likely that he’ll reman with the Eagles in 2026.
“Very good judges at West Coast tell me that in the last four to six weeks, there's been a serious shift in Harley Reid's attitude, his investment, his engagement around the club,” Morris said on SEN Breakfast.
“Now, whether this means that he wants to stay long term or stay even for next year remains to be seen.
“But what the Eagles have done, they realised that Harley Reid had a lot of voices in his ear, a lot of people telling him and giving him advice - they've really narrowed that.
“So he's only got sort of two or three people now at the club, he's got a fitness guy called Paul Turk, they've got the coach, Andrew McQualter, one or two others that are talking to him.
“It’s really helped him, and I'm told that he has had a serious shift in his engagement at the club in the last few weeks.”
Will Reid be there next year or not?
“Yeah, I think it's leaning more towards that he’ll be there next year,” Morris added.
“But clubs are still on high alert, so they still feel like there's a chance.
“Beyond that, who knows.”
In early April, AFL Media’s Cal Twomey reported that the Eagles had “tabled multiple contract options” to keep Reid in royal blue and gold - one which would make him West Coat’s highest paid player ever.
Reid is averaging 16.8 disposals, 3.5 inside 50s, 3.2 clearances, 2.8 tickles and has kicked nine goals in 12 outings so far in 2025.
