The most damaging player at each of the finals contenders
Which players of the clubs still in finals contention can do the most damage?
Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has identified one (or two) players from each of the top nine clubs who their opposition should be most worried about.
“We want to have a look at what we’ve described as the ‘Damage Patch Kids’,” Hoyne said on SEN’s Sportsday.
“The ones that have that one quarter where they kill the game and that is it.
“So just keep an eye on the Damage Patch Kids.”

Hawthorn’s Dylan Moore is the poster boy for this category, according to Hoyne.
Hawthorn
Dylan Moore’s importance on this footy club is so significant,” said Hoyne.
“When he gets the footy things happen. When he gets 20-plus disposals they very rarely lose.
“What’s made him a superstar of this competition for a number of stars is that he’s sat in that rare bracket of 20-plus (disposals) and one-plus goal a game.
“For him to do what he’s done over the last four weeks - the three times he’s reached 20-plus disposals they’ve won three of those four games. The only time he didn’t was against Adelaide.
“He’s up there with the most important players to Hawthorn and what they do over the next two weeks and in this finals period.”
Hoyne then went through the rest of the finals contenders.
Adelaide
“It’s Jordan Dawson who is the Damage Patch Kid over Izak Rankine.
“Rankine’s a star, but he’s not that, it’s Dawson.”
Brisbane
“If you come up against Brisbane it’s Zac Bailey or Hugh McCluggage.
“Not Lachie Neale.”
Collingwood
“If it’s against Collingwood it’s very obvious - it’s Nick Daicos or it’s pretty much bust.”
Fremantle
“At Fremantle, Luke Jackson is the one. We spoke about his game against Carlton, he won them that game.
“Andrew Braysahw is consistent, doesn’t really matter between wins and loses.
“Luke Jackson is the one.”
Geelong
“Geelong is Jezza (Cameron), and Bailey Smith instead of Max Holmes.
“Holmes’ consistency is there, it’s Bailey Smith and what he does there.”
Gold Coast
“If you’re coming up against Gold Coast, it’s (Noah) Anderson and not (Matt) Rowell.”
GWS Giants
“If it’s against GWS it’s (Finn) Callaghan, not (Tom) Green.”
Western Bulldogs
“If it’s against the Dogs, an obvious one, it’s The Bont (Marcus Bontempelli).”
