The five teams under the most pressure to break their premiership drought in 2025

Dwayne Russell’s pressure meter is BACK for 2025.
While the SEN host usually ranks the five teams most under pressure heading into that weekend’s round, with only four teams now playing in Opening Round, his first edition will be unique.
In this pressure meter, Russell has ranked the five teams most under pressure to break a premiership drought in 2025.
All of the teams Russell mentioned haven’t won a premiership in the last 20 years, and he ranked them from 1-5, with number one the team most under pressure to break the hoodoo this season.
Check out Russell’s pressure meter below.
1. FremantleLast premiership - N/A
“Number one on the pressure meter as an organisation this year is Fremantle,” Russell said on SEN Afternoons.
“30 years in the comp, but they haven’t won a flag yet.
“They’ve got to get it right, so I would put Fremantle at number one.”
2. CarltonLast premiership - 1995
“Carlton are at two. It’s been 29 years without a flag for the Blues.”
3. Port AdelaideLast premiership - 2004
“I've got Port Adelaide at three because I'm worried about Port.
“Have they blown their opportunity in the window?
“It’s 20 years without a flag for Port Adelaide now, and they still have a chance this year to get it right, but that might be starting to wane for them.”
4. GWSLast premiership - N/A
“I've got the Giants at four.
“13 years in the comp and they blew it last year.
“For the sake of the comp, I think they need to get it right and get themselves a flag while this window is open.
“It’s going to be open for a little while, you would think with the Giants.
“But we've seen with Port Adelaide, your window might be open for a while, but you still have to nail one down.”
5. AdelaideLast premiership - 1998
“I've got Adelaide at five.
“They talk themselves up, but it's a 26-year drought now.
“If you're a big gun team, and the Adelaide Crows were a big gun team in this competition, you can't have a drought that's 26 years.
“The reason I've got them in the top five and not St Kilda, North Melbourne or Essendon, is because I think they’re ahead of those teams who aren’t in the window.
“But you could almost put the Gold Coast in there if you like, 14 years and they haven’t played finals yet.”
