The elite company an emerging Lion is keeping

Emerging Brisbane forward Logan Morris is putting together very impressive numbers early in his life as an AFL player.
The premiership Lion, who turned 20 last month, kicked a career-high five goals in Saturday’s 11-point loss to GWS at the Gabba.
So far in 2025, Morris has booted 25 goals which has him placed equal 12th on the AFL’s goal kicking charts.
In his career to date, he has kicked 49 goals in 32 outings which prompted high praise from Tim Watson.
“Can I just give a little bit of love to Logan Morris,” Watson said on SEN Breakfast.
“Last year he played 19 games in his first season and kicked 24 goals.
“This season so far he’s kicked 25 goals. He is 12th on the goal kicking, he’s the youngest by three years.
“Riley Thilthorpe is 22 (almost 23), Mitch Georgiades is 23 (almost 24), Ben King is 24, Logan Morris just turned 20. That’s how young he still is.”
Fellow footy great Garry Lyon took it one step further and threw up some numbers relating to some recent key forward stars.
“Compared to Nick Riewoldt, Jeremy Cameron and Joe Daniher - three of the greats - Morris has kicked 49 goals in 32 games,” Lyon said.
“Riewoldt kicked 24, Cameron got 79 so he was off the charts, and Daniher 41.
“So he’s kicked more goals than Riewoldt and Daniher. He hasn’t taken as many marks but his score involvements are 140, Riewoldt’s were 125 and Daniher 150.
“He stacks up with those four in terms of 31 games of footy.”
Watson firmly believes that with this trajectory Morris can become a star of the game.
“He’s in their company,” Watson added.
“At the weekend he kicked five goals and (Sam) Taylor and (Jack) Buckley were his opponents.
“That’s a fine effort from a young bloke that’s just turned 20 years of age.
“He is going to be one of the forward stars of the competition, without a doubt.”
Morris has flourished, from an individual sense, in the absence of retired premiership teammate Daniher.
He leads the way for the Lions in 2025 with 25 goals, clear of Eric Hipwood (21), Zac Bailey (20) and Cal Ahe Chee (19).
He and his teammates will be intent on bouncing back from the Giants loss when they meet Geelong at GMHBA Stadium this Friday night.
