The eight names inducted into Australian football Hall of Fame
Garry Lyon headlines the eight new names inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
The 2025 Hall of Fame ceremony took place at Crown on Tuesday night with an octet of new faces entering the history books.
One previous Hall of Famer, the late Ken Farmer, was promoted to Legend status for his remarkable achievements in kicking 1417 goals in the SANFL for North Adelaide, including 100 or more in 11 straight seasons.
Former Melbourne captain and SEN’s own Lyon was honoured for his achievements with the Demons through the 1980s and 1990s and his ongoing contributions to the game as a media personality.
Joining Lyon in the Hall of Fame is Hawthorn and Brisbane great Luke Hodge, the four-time premiership player (three as captain), three-time All-Australian and two-time Norm Smith Medallist.
St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt was also inducted after six best and fairests, five All-Australians and a plethora of other awards over a storied career.
AFLW trailblazers Daisy Pearce and Erin Phillips were first-ballot entries (along with Hodge), highlighting their brilliant contributions to the women’s game.
Both Pearce and Phillips are genuine legends of the game.
East Perth champion George Owens, Tasmanian legend John Leedham and South Adelaide star Peter Darley were also inducted.
