Collingwood stars Jordan De Goey and Bobby Hill played out successful returns via the VFL this weekend, however a member of Frankston’s VFL team has snatched the headlines following the contest.
Despite Collingwood’s huge ins, Frankston claimed a crucial 36-point win over the Magpies to leap into the top five ahead of the final three rounds, led by midfielder Tom Blamires.
While De Goey managed 19 touches rotating through the midfield, it was a player he sometimes matched up on in Blamires that anchored the win for the Dolphins, collecting a whopping 44 disposals, six tackles and four clearances in a dominant showing.
Blamires, who is currently playing out his third VFL season, has established himself as a highly reliable player at the level, playing out a career best year after joining Frankston at the start of the 2025 season.
However outside of football, Blamires works in sales, and according to SEN regular Josh Gabelich, his employer happens to be the side he manhandled on Saturday night.
“(De Goey) finished with 19 touches, and he played a lot on a guy who works in Collingwood’s sales team,” Gabelich told SEN’s Fireball.
“His name is Tom Blamires, he works in the corporate team at the AIA centre. He finished with 44 disposals for Frankston against the Magpies VFL team.
“I dare say, he’s walking into the Collingwood Football Club right now, and he is viewed in a very different light to when he exited work on Friday. He is in really good form at VFL level.”
Sam Edmund also commented on Blamires’ incredible performance against his employer, suggesting the Magpies should consider putting him on their list.
“Bobby Hill did kick three down in the VFL in Frankston on Saturday night, and Jordan De Goey got through with 19 touches as well, but what about this fella named Tom Blamires,” Edmund told SEN Afternoons.
“He plays for Frankston, but he works at Collingwood, and he had 44 possessions in this game on Saturday night playing against the club that employs him! He had a stack of it!
“(I’ve been) following a few things on social media (suggesting) he has been in great form throughout the year… list him! Get him on!”
