The big club that Jack Riewoldt has a good inkling about in 2025
Jack Riewoldt has a good feeling about Carlton ahead of the 2025 season.
While the Blues finished eighth in 2024 and were thrashed by Brisbane in an Elimination Final at the Gabba, the Richmond great thinks that Michael Voss’ side could have what it takes to improve and go all the way this campaign.
When asked by SEN’s Gerard Whateley about his 2025 premiership pick, Riewoldt refused to outright make his selection but explained why he has an ‘inkling’ that the Blues could this year win their first flag in 30 years.
“I have no stats, data or anything around this, but I've just got an inkling that a big club is going to break a hoodoo,” Riewoldt told SEN Whateley.
“I feel like, if they can get their act together, I’ve got a little sneaky watch on Carlton.
“I think that they've gone under the radar. Last year's performance in that final up at Brisbane they were well beaten and the game was over halfway through the first quarter, but they had an injury crisis last year.
“If they can get everyone fit and firing, and clearly the news about Charlie Curnow isn't great, but they could just be sneaking around.”

Having been one of the competition’s elite sides at their best across the last two seasons, Riewoldt thinks that the Blues can absolutely lift the cup aloft if everything clicks this time around.
“We know their best is good enough. They're another club that just needs to when the lights come on, stand up,” Riewoldt said.
“Can they stand up? Just imagine if they do stand up and we start to get Carlton home finals at the MCG.
“It’ll be a packed house and it’ll be a perfect September.”
Carlton begins their 2025 season up against Riewoldt’s former club Richmond at the MCG on Thursday, March 13.
