Stay or go? Tom Morris’ call on 17 out-of-contract players
Who will stay and who will go?
Channel 9 journalist and SEN regular Tom Morris has run the rule over a number of players, 17 in fact, who come out of contract later this year.
This is a time capsule to be looked back on as conversations and negotiations continue over the course of the year.

See the contract calls below:
Matt Rowell (Gold Coast): “Stays on a two-year deal I think.”
Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs): “Stays, don’t know how long, write his own check.”
Ed Richards (Western Bulldogs): “Stays on a long-term deal.”
Brayden Maynard (Collingwood): “Stays at Collingwood, I think.”
Reilly O’Brien (Adelaide): “I think he’s making Adelaide work for it a bit. I think he stays but I’m not confident on that.”
Brandon Starcevich (Brisbane): “Starcevich stays. West Coast has cooled on him a bit because of the concussion. Other clubs have looked at him, but he wants to stay at Brisbane and Brisbane like him.”
Jack Silvagni (Carlton): “He’s an interesting one. Carlton want him to stay, he’s a free agent, signed a two-year deal last time. His next deal might be a little bit better than that. I think he stays at Carlton and they need to pay him what he deserves now because he’s playing such good footy.”
Sam Draper (Essendon): “Free agent, I’m saying stay.”
Leek Aleer (GWS): “I think Leek Aleer goes. St Kilda is the front-runner there. He goes because the Giants just can’t match what he’s being offered elsewhere.”
Lloyd Meek (Hawthorn): “Lloyd Meek stays, I think that will probably be a four-year deal.”
Massimo D’Ambrosio (Hawthorn): “He stays.”
James Worpel (Hawthorn): “I might be looking silly here but the way it’s looking at the moment he’s more likely to go. There’s some good offers out there for him. Melbourne and
St Kilda really like him. The Hawks are happy to keep him, but probably aren’t willing to offer him the long-term deal as a free agent that he wants.”
Tom De Koning (Carlton): “It’s so much money to pass up. I think he’ll end up going but I say that through gritted teeth. That’s got all the hallmarks of a player that’s looking to go. The sort of cash that’s being offered by the Saints is very hard to say no to.”
Jase Burgoyne (Port Adelaide): “He stays, I think on a four-year deal to free agency.”
Jimmy Webster (St Kilda): “Stays on a short-term deal. They like him.”
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (St Kilda): “We’ll know by halfway through the year. I think the family pull is so strong that it’s more likely he heads back to South Australia. But I’m not sure he’s even made his mind up yet. He’s very close to Jason Horne-Francis at Port Adelaide. Adelaide are heavily in for him. I’d be guessing between those two.”
Oscar Allen (West Coast): “Oscar Allen goes to Brisbane as a free agent. I’m still very confident on that.”
