SEN kicks off 2026 AFLW coverage with historic Australia v Ireland clash

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) will launch its AFLW coverage this weekend with live commentary of the historic Australia v Ireland representative match, reinforcing Sports Entertainment Group's ongoing commitment to women's football ahead of the AFLW's 11th season.
The inaugural Australia v Ireland contest – being held this Saturday, August 1, at North Sydney Oval - will feature many of the AFLW's biggest stars, including Australian representatives Kate Hore and Georgie Prespakis, along with some of the competition's most accomplished Irish players, including Orla O'Dwyer, Erika O'Shea, Vikki Wall and Jennifer Dunne. The match is the first AFLW representative fixture since the League's inception in 2017 and celebrates the significant contribution Irish players have made to the league's growth and success.
SEN will broadcast the match live across its network* from 4pm AEST, with Jo Wotton, Ellie Blackburn and Matthew Cocks on the call for what looms as a landmark occasion for the game.
SEN's coverage of Saturday's clash will be the first step in another season of AFLW broadcasting, with the network set to continue delivering live coverage of matches throughout the season.
SEN Chief Executive, Craig Hutchison, said the AFLW remained an important part of his organisation's content strategy and broader commitment to women's sport.

This commitment extends across the broader Sports Entertainment Group business, through its television production arm Rainmaker, which will again play a significant role in AFLW coverage throughout the season.
Rainmaker will produce up to four AFLW matches live each weekend for the Seven Network, delivering 48 matches across the season, including Finals and the AFLW Grand Final.
Rainmaker will also continue producing Talking W for the Seven Network and The W Show for AFL.com.au, further supporting the visibility and growth of the competition.
With live match broadcasts, weekly programming and comprehensive coverage across radio, television and digital platforms, Sports Entertainment Group's continued investment underscores its long-term commitment to AFLW and the future of women's football.
