Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (23/08)
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Moonee Valley & Randwick in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
MOONEE VALLEY
Race 3 | 6. Exit
Can understand the disappointment at Flemington when she was backed and this is a very similar race. Gets the weight swing off Crossbow and I don’t expect her to be as far back off the fav as last time. I think the rise in distance helps her a lot as well!
Race 8 | 3. Globe
Jumped out really well and then had a nice easy trial. He is very talented and his Spring was really decent. From that gate I assume he’ll saunter on forward and pretty much control the races which is when he’s at his best. Only been here once and he had an issue in the Feehan. Little give in the ground is perfect and his best is better than these the big question is if he can find it from 2023. Fingers crossed he can!!
Race 9 | 12. Stoli Bolli
Again a little tricky barrier just like resuming but this time the 1200m is key. Wouldn’t stun me if they’re a bit more positive and took a risk to be closer than last start. Wasn’t far off in the Coolmore and I think up in distance second up will see more of that horse than the one who had to come very wide off a long run last start.
Caulfield 'More Places' Multi
Race 1 | 1. Miss Celine (top three)
Easiest race contested, has won first up and has jumped out ok!
Race 2 | 7. Muktamil (top three)
Gets weight off Bold Soul, will be prominent in run and enjoys the track!
Race 3 | 6. Exit (top two)
See above.
Race 4 | 2. Bur Dubai (top four)
Loves The Valley, runs well second up and will not go around a horse!
Race 5 | 6. Estremo (top three)
Needs speed on from the gate but looks like it will enjoy Melbourne way. 1200m looks perfect.
Race 6 | 12. Farhh Flung (top four)
Been knocking on the door. Was good last start when no chance from gate. Might be closer in run. Huge weight drop!
Race 7 | 5. Oak Hill (top two)
Brilliant last start and same setup. Great second up. Speed will be on! Only needs some luck!
Race 8 | 3. Globe (top three)
See above.
Race 9 | 12. Stoli Bolli (top two)
See above.
RANDWICK
Race 3 | 1. Juja Kibo
Looks like the 2400m is perfect and it’s time. Belted same level last start on Heavy. Using the claim again today which makes sense. Lightly raced and clearly the progressive horse here and honestly $2.50 being offered surprised me a little as I think he is better than these!
Race 6 | 3. Savvy Hallie
Finally gained the confidence needed win 1st up but in saying that only gets beat by stars! The step to 1200m works and Heavy form is good!! Draw is decent for J Mac to choose where he goes in straight if wide is best. She has early gate speed which means she shouldn’t be too far off Agarwood who is red hot fave! Has trialled well and has to be respected and caught but I’m with SH with a little extra fitness.
Race 8 | 2. Ceolwulf (each-way)
Class Star horse who will handle the Heavy. Can find 100 excuses for the Autumn and now has been reset. 1400m first up isn’t great record but this is a better set up for him with the slop than some of the others. Open race full of stars but he is drawn to be in the middle of the track mate which also could be an advantage. This bloke shouldn’t ever be double figures and he is a great each way play!!
Rosehill 'More Places' Multi
Race 1 | 12. Divine Bene (top five)
Open race but bloke loves slop and a crack here after belting them at Newcastle. Claim lovely and staying at 1200m perfect.
Race 2 | 8. Xcessive Force (top five)
Playing it conservative because the heavy is unknown. Class horse and only loss to Sun n Sand. Very easy trial interesting.
Race 3 | 1. Juja Kibo (top two)
See above.
Race 4 | 2. Kerguelen (top three)
Fit horse, loves slop and freshen five weeks into 1200m works.
Race 5 | 10. Good Banter (top four)
In form, heavy great and back from 2400m is nice set up here!
Race 6 | 3. Savvy Hallie (top two)
See above.
Race 7 | 4. Autumn Glow (win)
Welcome back to the superstar.
Race 8 | 2. Ceolwulf (top four)
See above.
Race 9 | 4. Lazzuro (top four)
Runs well first up, heavy only run ok and is full of class!
Race 10 | 11. Narbold (top three)
Great win last start, harder here but 1600m works. Form behind Amusing two back stands up for this!

David Taggart
MOONEE VALLEY
Race 1 | 3. Cherish Me
Went back to the trials after a disappointing first up run and she gets the blinkers on to boot. Has ability and she deserves another chance.
Race 2 | 7. Muktamil
Best weighted horse in the race. Has been knocking on the door of late and his Valley form is sound. With just 53.5kg on his back he should be too good for them.
Race 4 | 2. Bur Dubai (BEST)
Hits this second up where he always races well without winning. Draws pole for a soft run and box seat. Last prep when second up he ran second to the handy Revelare over this trip in a stronger BM.
Race 5 | 5. Space Rider (VALUE)
Is the interesting runner resuming. Smashed a very good field when he was on debut up North with that form being franked in group races. Pulled up with an issue after that then tipped straight out. Draws pole will go forward and is a great each-way play.
Race 7 | 5. Oak Hill
Was outstanding first up and he is clearly the one they have to beat. Loves The Valley and his second up record is just as good as his first up record.
RANDWICK
Race 4 | 2. Kerguelen
Relishes these conditions and appears to be the best wet tracker in the race. Just missed last start in a better race to this with that race being franked through King Of Roseau winning a listed race.
