Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (13/09)
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Flemington & Rosehill in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
FLEMINGTON
Race 3 | 1. Vinrock
Gets back to 1400m which he needs after that 1st up run when he was ran off his feet and more importantly he gets back to Flem which is a big tick. Drawn a little awkwardly but no doubt he’ll squeeze forward and he’s the class horse in the race and I expect to be very hard to beat.
Race 5 | 1. Rise At Dawn (each-way)
Always runs well first up, 1400m perfect and drying track sweet. Gate a smidge tricky so will need some luck but I liked him in the Straddie but got screwed by the seven day back. Ran fourth in the Doncaster and will be really hard to beat today. Great each way play!
Race 6 | 4. Arkansaw Kid
Barrier beat him last start at Caulfield and he has won third up before. Runs well down the Flem straight including in the Newmarket. Track conditions won’t hurt him at all. My only concern is if the inside isn’t the place to be but I think he’s got the class to win this race and he’ll be very hard to beat.
Race 7 | 4. Revelare
Slight concern to the 2500m first time, third up but he was so tough at Caulfield last start over 2000m. Is a tractable horse so the gate means he will be dictated a little bit speed but as long as he beds a backside, he’ll be fine. I think he is the best horse in the race and desperately needs that golden ticker for the MC and will get it!!
Race 9 | 11. Splash Back (each-way)
Can find many an excuse the last two (1200m then little flat footed in Adelaide) but hoping this will be a bit faster with some speed in the race (Arataki/Benita) and she can unleash late like she did last time. Lazzura going to be really hard to beat with her win and form line (With Your Blessing) holding up but SB on a good deck is a great each way bet!
ROSEHILL
Race 4 | 11. Seven's
Gets to the 1800m third up which I think is a huge tick. Was really good first up and smidge back in distance second up didn’t help but was really good late. Soft/heavy no concern for this former import, no weight and from that gate as long as Nock gets a backside, I think he’ll savage the line down the middle of the track and be too good.
Race 8 | 1. Nepotism (each-way)
First up which may be a slight disadvantage with horses that have already run but I think he’s the best 3YO in the country. Handles a heavy track if it ends up that way and his win before getting tipped out was as impressive as you can see. $12 is a price you can’t let go with this bloke. Great each way play at a minimum.

David Taggart
FLEMINGTON
Race 1 | 18. Rich Dottie
She is ready to go off her trials. Her best runs to date have been when’s she’s fresh and she can go close.
Race 2 | 2. Tycoon Star
Put it all together last start after needing the run first up despite an on pace bias. Won down the straight on debut and he just looks the best horse in the race. Should be winning.
Race 3 | 1. Vinrock
Steps up to a more suitable trip than when he was a beaten favourite first up but does have to overcome the outside gate. Zahra will have no other option but to roll forward on him and control the race. He won the G2 Sires over this course second up before winning his G1 in Sydney last prep in the Autumn. Gets onto better going which helps and if he can get across without doing too hard he should be winning.
Race 5 | 1. Rise At Dawn (value)
Resumes and he has got a very good fresh record winning 3/4 failing last prep when beaten 2.5 against Joliestar in the G1 Kingsford Smith. Draws out but should be able to get across for Dee without doing too much work. Looked good winning a recent trial.
Race 6 | 11. Royal Insignia
Was good first up considering he didn’t appreciate the shifty ground. Gets a good track here and is the first time he’s seen the Flemington straight. All his three wins have come over this trip.
ROSEHILL
Race 4 | 1. Strathtay
Was good first up and he will find this easier than that run as he drops a couple of grades here. Hit the line well and is clearly looking for this trip now. Back Nash win cash.
Race 5 | 1. Romeo's Choice (each-way)
Won his first two this prep and wasn’t disgraced when five weeks between runs in a stronger race to this. Draws good, won’t be far off them in the run and is over the odds.
