Rugby League Immortal calls on Titans players to fix losing culture

Australia Kangaroos coach and rugby league Immortal Mal Meninga has challenged the Gold Coast Titans to end the culture of losing.
After back-to-back wins in Round 3 and 4 against the Knights and Roosters, the Titans have fallen back into bad habits with two straight losses.
The first defeat was against the winless Dolphins and the following week, the Titans fell to the inconsistent Dragons despite having over 50 tackles inside the opposition 20m.
Gold Coast lost by an aggregate of 74-26 in their last two defeats.
Meninga previously held the role of senior advisor at the club but was let go following the sacking of former coach Justin Holbrook and the acquisition of current coach Des Hasler.
Meninga was dumbfounded how a team stacked with talent is sitting 11th on the NRL ladder with a 2-3 record.
“My thoughts are that there is no real reason why they lose all the time,” Meninga declared on SENQ Breakfast.
“It’s a losing mentality. They have one of the largest groups of juniors in our competition.
“It’s not because of development or the pathway programs. It’s a mindset.
“(There was a perception) that you’d go to the Gold Coast to retire and have a good time.
“Losing is a habit and winning is a habit and that’s the culture they have to try and get themselves out of.
“My belief is that they have got to win some tough games.
“Once belief then comes into the group, all of a sudden confidence and other things will start to grow.”
The Titans host the Canberra Raiders on Easter Sunday at Cbus Super Stadium.
