Ploughing ahead: Lynch reveals the next steps in Tassie's coaching role
In spite of the ongoing Tasmanian election, it's business as usual for the Tasmania Devils, who are preparing to commence their search for their inaugural AFL coach.
Although the election is trending in favour of Premier Jeremy Rockliff, neither party has been able to form a majority in the lower house, meaning the result of the election could still take multiple weeks to determine.
While the wait for an outcome continues to delay the plans for the commencement of the Mac. Point Stadium, SEN Tassie Breakfast co-host and Devils board member Alastair Lynch has stated the club is not wasting any time in advancing the football department, preparing to form a panel to undergo the process of hiring the club's senior coach.

“A lot of people were hoping for a majority government so we could just get on and govern,” Lynch told SEN Tassie.
“It looks like there’s increased Liberal vote, Labor hasn’t had a great weekend, but we’re confident that there’s been a bit of a trend towards pro-stadium parties, so that’s encouraging.
“Still going to be treading water and a little bit frustrated over the next couple of weeks, but as far as the footy club’s concerned, head down, keep ploughing along.
“We’ve got a board meeting and planning session for early August; we should have a result by then and know exactly where we sit. Business as usual, especially in the football department, where the U16’s (played) last week down the Gold Coast…
“We’re ploughing ahead with what our list build might look like, we have list management committees being put together, and then in the not-too-distant future, we’ve got to put a panel together that’s going to select our first coach.
“We’ll wait and get direction from the government when they form one.”
Speaking on the committee forming to determine the next steps in selecting a head coach, Lynch believes that he will play a part in the decision making, representing the board alongside senior leaders at the club.
“I’d imagine so,” he suggested.
“You’d imagine, especially with an experienced CEO, you’ll definitely have Brendon Gale, he’ll be on that.
“I’d probably represent the board from that point of view, Grant O’Brien, the chairman… it’s such a significant appointment, Grant would be on it as well.
“Then I’d imagine we’d look to one or two consultants from outside, so football type people that have been in this space before, with a lot of experience at club land – I’m not sure if it’s a media person or not – but we’ll look for someone on the outside.
“No doubt I’d imagine our listeners will have plenty of views on who our coach should be and suggestions from that space as well.
“As Brendon Gale put out there a couple of months ago, we’ve spoken to a few people, but until we actually put that panel together, there’s nothing concrete at all.”
With an election outcome still potentially weeks away, the Devils are tracking at full speed.
