NRL signings: Tigers cult hero wanted by rivals
Wests Tigers cult hero Adam Doueihi could be on the move as multiple suitors have emerged for the utility.
Doueihi has been one of the most consistent performers for the Tigers since joining the club in 2020 despite a number of injury setbacks. The 26-year-old slotted his first career field goal in the Tigers’ 21-20 win over the Gold Coast Titans in Round 20.
Doueihi has played multiple positions in 2025 including most recently lock which has rival clubs circling according to The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio.
“The Saints (St George Illawarra) have had a look at Adam Doueihi,” Riccio told SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“They’ve been looking for probably the last 12 months.
“They are assessing and analysing their roster for where Adam could fit in. We all know his ability as a genuine utility and he’s just gone from strength to strength.
“He’s been the glue for the Wests Tigers over the last three weeks.
“There was a significant meeting last week (at the Dragons) where it was an assessment of the overall roster and what the Dragons need.
“Adam’s name was certainly brought up in that meeting as far as a possible signing. I think he’d be a good signing for most clubs.”
Earlier rumours hinted that Doueihi was also on the radar of the Penrith Panthers. However, SEN’s Greg Alexander, who also serves as a Penrith board member, declared on SEN that the Panthers wouldn’t sign Doueihi.
The Lebanese international is off contract at the end of the season and whilst the Tigers have offered a modest offer, Riccio believes Doueihi will attract more cash from rival clubs.
“He won’t be short on offers but the Tigers have offered him a deal for roughly $350,000,” Riccio added.
“I think his numbers are going north of that with every game he plays.
“$350,000 is not even the NRL average,” Alexander added.
“I think Adam Doueihi deserves more than that and if the Tigers can’t squeeze any more money, he might have to look somewhere.
“I know he’s had his injuries but if the NRL average (salary)is around $400,000, he certainly deserves at least that.”
Doeuhi has been named at lock for the Tigers’ clash against the Panthers on Saturday evening.
