Gold Coast Titans captain Tino Faβasuamaleaui has confirmed that he will hit the open market on November 1 and potentially find a new home for 2027.
The 25-year-old is contracted to $1.1 million until the end of 2033 but the Australia and Queensland representative has decided to exercise his player option and explore free agency.
Faβasuamaleaui has not indicated whether he will leave the Titans but SENβs Andrew Voss believes the Gold Coast skipper is all but out the door.
βWhen you see a player say they are going to test the market, does that not immediately say βI donβt want to stay where I am?β,β Voss said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
βIs that not the first conclusion you jump to if youβre a fan?
βThey are clearly leaning towards the fact that they donβt want to stay.
βThis is a 10-year deal and heβs captain of the club. Iβm not bagging Tino because if thereβs a clause in his contract that allows him to do this, then go ahead.
βThe signs are that heβs gone. If Iβm a Titans, youβre thinking that heβs gone and out the door.
βItβs sad because heβs absolutely the marquee man.β
Since joining the Titans from the Melbourne Storm in 2021, Faβasuamaleaui has played a total of 84 games with a 31% winning record.
The club has made finals once in this span and hasnβt exceeded more than 10 wins in his five seasons at the club.
SENβs Greg Alexander believes itβs clear that Faβasuamaleaui is fed up with the lack of success at the Titans.
βThe Titans put their heart and soul into signing him and built the team around him,β Alexander added.
Voss said: βIt canβt be about money because the Titans are paying him a fortune
βSo why does he want to go out?β
Alexander replied: βHe wants out because the Titans have stunk it up for the past few years.
βHe said in a statement that his heart is with the Titans but.
βWhere are the Titans as a club?β
Faβasuamaleaui is currently on tour with the Kangaroos and has been named as a starting prop against England in the first Ashes Test at Wembley on Sunday morning.
