The NFL appears set to head 'down under' for the very first time.
According to reports from across the Tasman, the Super Bowl-bound Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams will square off at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in October 2026.
The match will be the first of regular annual fixtures as part of a deal that will stretch over the next seven years.
The contract is reportedly worth 'tens of millions of dollars', says the Herald Sun.
The MCG will likely be the only venue to be used, with NFL executives having visited to examine the suitability of stadia in Sydney and Perth.
"Anything like this is so incredibly important for continuing to grow our industry but also continuing to put Victoria on the global stage," Victorian Tourism Industry Council chief Felicia Mariani told the Herald Sun.
"If these matches are in fact part of a regular season and not just friendly exhibition matches, it makes an enormous difference to the audience in the US that will watch.
"There is no sport in the world that has the attraction and the audience as NFL does in the US."
The NFL has been a regular in the UK, recently hosting games in Germany and Brazil.
