83: Heat star passes Kobe Bryant with second most points in a single NBA game
Miami Heat centre Bam Adebayo has propelled himself into NBA folklore, scoring 83 points against the Washington Wizards to move in to second all time for the most points in a single game.

Adebayo, averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds per game across the 2025/26 season, doubled his previous career high of 41 points, tallying the most points since Kobe Bryant's 81 against the Raptors in 2006.
With one of the most incredible statistical feats in NBA history, Adebayo hit 20 field goals from 43 attempts, seven of 22 three pointers and 36 of 43 free throw attempts, playing 42 of a possible 48 minutes at the Kaseya Center, Miami.
Bam's 36 free throws is the most made by a player in a single NBA game in history, becoming just the sixth NBA player to score 70 or more points since 1995.
His statline for the night reads: 83 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Adebayo managed 31 points in the first quarter, wrapping up the first half with 43 before exploding for another 40 in the second half.
The all-time record remains in Wilt Chamberlain's possession, scoring an unfathomable 100 points with Philadelphia in 1962.
